Doctors Without Borders
Medical aid in conflict zones and disasters
About the Organization
Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières, provides emergency medical care in places where conflict, disaster, or exclusion leave people without treatment. The U.S. office explains that teams work in more than 70 countries and that most funding comes from individual donors. Care covers urgent medical needs and the diseases and conditions teams meet in crises.
The organization presents itself as a global movement guided by humanitarian principles. Medical staff and logisticians go where health systems are overwhelmed, and public reporting is part of how it accounts for that work.
