Heifer International

Heifer International works to end hunger and poverty by investing alongside farmers and their communities. Programs begin with a practical agricultural resource, such as livestock or crops, and continue with training so participants can build a business and reach markets. The organization says families who earn a more reliable income can then strengthen the next generation.

Heifer describes its focus areas as work and income, food security, women and inclusion, climate and the environment, and health. It works with smallholder farmers in a set of countries and presents agriculture as the starting point for lasting change.
