International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
Emergency response and disaster relief
About the Organization
The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is made up of three independent parts, united by a purpose of helping without discrimination and by shared Fundamental Principles. Those parts are the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. National Societies provide disaster relief, health, and social programs in their own countries.
The ICRC focuses on people affected by armed conflict and on humanitarian law. The Federation supports the volunteer network of National Societies before, during, and after disasters and health emergencies. The parts meet and coordinate so the Movement can act together.
