Southern Poverty Law Center
Fights hate and bigotry
About the Organization
The Southern Poverty Law Center works on racial justice through litigation, public education, and monitoring of hate and extremist activity. Its published issue areas include voting rights, white supremacy, unjust imprisonment, and poverty and economic inequality. Tracking projects such as a hate map and extremist files are part of how it documents organized hate.
The center also produces reports, stories, and teaching resources. Its public stance is that democracy and civil rights need both courtroom action and a clear record of groups that promote hate.
